A special cup of espresso curated by world-famous driver Kamui Kobayashi

On May 15 and 16, you will have the opportunity to savor an espresso blended by world-famous driver Kamui Kobayashi, who has been meticulous in every aspect of his work, at INTERSECT BY LEXUS - TOKYO(INTERSECT).

" I think coffee is a tool that supports my lifestyle," says Kobayashi.
Before a race, he always enjoys a cup of espresso to ready himself. As he drank with his teammates at the circuit, he began to realize that if he was going to drink it, he wanted the best espresso, and became obsessed with every detail related to coffee and his pursuit of the perfect espresso. His passion for coffee and commitment to its taste extends not only to the type of bean, roasting method, brewing method, and machine he uses, but also to the space, and time in which it is enjoyed.
Because he has put so much thought into every aspect of the drink, they are imparted to the drinker, leading to a flavor that moves the heart.
Kobayashi says that coffee, which is created while expressing his own particular taste, can be likened to making a car. "In car making, too, you try to mix the best parts of here and there, and set up the car while expressing your own preferences in this way. That is the similarity between the coffee and car world."
This attitude of persistence, painstakingly improving the car, and never being finished, is connected to Lexus' commitment to making better cars, thoroughly optimizing the car's characteristics, and continuing the pursuit of authenticity.

Kobayashi's commitment extends even to the electricity used to power the espresso machine. A stylish cafe using his own trailer will be set up at race sites, using electricity supplied by the Toyota Tundra hydrogen pickup truck, which was specially developed at Kobayashi's suggestion.
Kobayashi said, "I want to offer visitors to the race the chance to experience a special drink that can only be enjoyed at the location."
With this in mind, we opened cafes with the help of his team, sponsors, and race organizer at Fuji Speedway for the first and second Super Formula race held last month and at Suzuka Circuit for the third race. The espresso- served from the cafe's shiny silver trailer under the blue sky, along with the sounds of the race and excitement of the venue- was a memorable experience for many.

The Tundra hydrogen pickup truck will be installed next to the INTERSECT store. Visitors can experience a cup of espresso brewed with electricity supplied by the hydrogen fuel, and all the specialties of the cafe in Minami-Aoyama, Tokyo. A cup of espresso at INTERSECT, which proposes new lifestyles through encounters with food, design, art, and technology, will be a special experience unlike anything you can have at the racetrack.

Kobayashi is both a driver and team representative for TOYOTA GAZOO Racing, and is aiming for his team's sixth consecutive victory at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in June, which marks the 100th anniversary of the race. This is the authentic coffee that such a world top driver is particular about. The taste is achieved because of immense attention to detail. We hope you take delight in it it at INTERSECT, a place where you can encounter new experiences that move your heart and stimulate your senses.
