The largest short film festival in Asia and accredited as a qualifying festival for the Academy Awards in the United States, Short Shorts Film Festival & Asia has established a new virtual reality category called VR Shorts. It is the first such division at a film festival in Japan.

For this VR Shorts Theater event, Short Shorts has taken inspiration from the spirit of LEXUS and carefully selected examples of the most acclaimed virtual reality short films from around the world.
