The Lexus Design Award is an annual international design competition for up-and-coming creators from around the world.

To celebrate the opening of applications for the 2017 awards, INTERSECT BY LEXUS – TOKYO hosts a special exhibition showcasing the winners of the Lexus Design Award 2016 from August 10th to September 9th.

LEXUS always strives to develop its products and services by anticipating the needs of people and society in order to create surprise and emotion. Themed around this idea of anticipation, Lexus Design Award 2016 received 1,232 entrants from 73 countries.

The Grand Prix was won by AMAM , AGAR PLASTICITY — A POTENTIAL USEFULNESS OF AGAR FOR PACKAGING AND MORE, a type of environmentally friendly packaging material that uses agar. One of the Prototype Winners was Angelene Laura Fenuta, Shape Shifters, a special cut of garment that applies modular principles to textiles to create different outfits that can match the style of the wear.
